This booklet does not pretend to give a full list of the pros and cons of owning a Saluki, but is intended as food for thought for anyone considering Salukis for the first time. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SALUKI
The Saluki is a beautiful creature; to see the breed walking in the show ring or running as free as the wind is a wonderful sight and it is tempting to say "I would like a dog like that", but don't be fooled. They are certainly elegant, loving, faithful and all the other adjectives one can apply to a dog, but they do have another side to their characters and if you are considering becoming a Saluki owner (or, one might say, considering being owned by a Saluki) you should give consideration to your own life style and see if a dog of this type will fit in - and whether you are prepared, furthermore, to adapt your life style (as you may have to) to accommodate your Saluki.
