SALUKI (GAZELLE HOUND) BREED NOTES

SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 30 APRIL 1999

The following has been sent to me by Dr John Hudson:

"Now I am Secretary of the SGHC, the Kennel Club has already started passing enquiries for Saluki puppies on to me. So if anyone has, or is about to have, a litter and they would like me to pass enquirers on to them (I only give out telephone numbers) please let me know. The same applies to anyone who has an older dog for sale. However, most of these enquiries will not lead to a sale for one reason or another. I cannot assess the people who call up - individuals selling puppies must do this for themselves and I'm sure that some of the enquiries will come from most unsuitable people.

Part of the paraphernalia I collected from Diana Allan on getting this job is a stock of B.O.B. rosettes in the Club colours. These are specials for judges to give to their bests of breed and are specifically for anyone judging abroad and also for Club members on the B judging list who are judging Open Shows in the UK. Please let me know if and when you fall into either of these categories and I will send you a rosette."

The Schedule for the 1999 SGHC Open Show has now been posted to the club members. If you have not received one or, would like to receive a copy ( you do not have to be a member of the SGHC to exhibit at this show), then please contact the show manager Mrs Kay Perkins on tel no. 01795 470918. The date of this show is Sunday, 13th June, 1999 at Bisley Pavilion, Queens Road, Brookwood, Surrey. Judges are Mrs E. Cartledge, dogs and Mrs J Wright, bitches. The Referee is Mrs S Harms-Cooke. Judging will commences for dogs at 9:30 a.m. followed by the bitches. If you have received the schedule, please note that there has been a printers error in the listings of the Committee, The list should have included Mrs Zola Rawson and Mrs Doreen Stansfield.

Also, missing from the Open Show envelope was an Entry Form for the SGHC 2000 C Calendar Competition. We are still going to have calendar competition as usual at the "Open Show".The forms are available from Ms Nicola Quadling, 57 Gyllyngdune Gardens, Seven Kings, Ilford, Essex Tel no 0181 590 8457. Niclola will have the forms at the Birmingham Championship Show or they can be obtain from Doreen Stansfield at Southern Counties Championship Show. If you just send in photos, the charges are 50p. Per photo and closing date in Saturday, 5th June.
