SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 29th DECEMBER 2000
We Received an E-mail from Zola Rawson saying that she took Mr A. Rawson's Mumtaz Desdemona to a local open show, for the first time after moving North and she won NSC and then the Hound group under Mrs. E. Bothwell and went on to win RBIS under Mr Ray Scholes.
Lynda Langton would like us to thank everyone for the cards, telephone calls and the E-mails she has received, congratulating her on Harley becoming Champion Al Caliphs Suhayl. She has had her best Christmas present ever.
Ian Stedman-Brown, PRO for The Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club has sent me the following information regarding the club: The AGM is booked for the 25th March, 2001 at the Cambridgeshire Moat House, at Bar Hill. The Hotel is located at the end of the M11. Ian states that it is important for all members to try and attend the AGM so the Committee knows what direction the membership would like the club to go, in the future.
Please do not forget the Club Limited Show is to be held on Sunday, 18th February 2001. The venue is Burnwell Village Hall, Nr Oundle, Northants. Show opens at 9:15 with judging commencing at 10am. The judges are Dogs, Mr D Cavill; Bitches, Mrs P Mottershaw, with the Referee Mrs W. Bunce. All members of SGHC should have received their schedules and at the ”Limited Show”, only members may exhibit, though of course, you need not be a member to attend the show. For further information please contact the new Show Manager, Ms Nicola Quadling, 57 Gyllyngdune Gardens, Seven Kings, Essex, IG3 9HY or telephone 020 8590 8457. The usual fantastic fare of food will be available.
The Saluki Seminar was a resounding success with about 30 individuals taking place with a 100% pass rate.
Saluki Welfare has 12 hounds needing homes. There has been a spate of Salukis being stolen. The club strongly urges everyone to have their dogs tattooed and/or micro-chipped.
Its time to think about Crufts and the Club would like to hear from anyone that would be happy to man the stand at Crufts Discover Dogs. I know the KC will provide a car park pass, free entry and a luncheon voucher. If you and your saluki/salukis would like to volunteer, please contact Ian on tel. 01590 676340 or E-Mail:ian@salukifreeserve.co,uk
Ian states his concern over the Bill on banning hunting with dogs. The Countryside Alliance is working extremely hard to seeing that this Bill is not passed. There will be a large march in London on March 18th to retain the rights of the Country. The Hunting Bill will make it almost impossible for any dog owner, let alone Saluki owners being able to let their hounds of the lead when out walking. The catalyst for this March is the Hunting Bill, but we must not forget also the threat to all Country Sports and the very grave crisis facing farming and its related trades.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
