Saluki Breed Notes28/2/97
Michael and I would like to thank every one for their cards, flowers and especially prayers during Michael’s recent illness. Michael is now home after suffering a Subarachnoid Haemorrhage which nearly took his life. Thanks to the excellent Neurological Team at Southampton General Hospital, an aneurysm on the brain was diagnosed and then was operated on. After some very worrying time, Michael is now home and hopefully in time, will be his old self. One of Michael’s ambitions is to make it to Crufts this year. There is still two weeks to go before Crufts so I hope that he will well enough to realize that dream.
I have received a bulletin from Linda Scanlon of the USA, on behalf of The Saluki Club on America. They are producing a video called “SALUKI SEEN”. The purpose of the video is “to show footage of Salukis in open field, lure coursing, obedience and agility and photos of winners from the National, Regional & Independent specialties and Supported entries in 1996 and 1997” Linda continues” You will be able to purchase a two minute time block on the video to showcase your Salukis in color and motion. The first volume of ‘Salukis Seen’ will be limited to 100 ads with further limitation of one ad per person to allow as many fanciers as possible to participate. However, if all 100 ads are not reserved by March 31, 1997 deadline you will be able to purchase additional time. The cost of two minute ad is $250.00 which will include shipping, handling, and a copy of the video and book. The accompanying book will include a three generation pedigree per dog ( maximum 2 dogs per person per ad) a list of Salukis who had AKC, ASFA or open field titles confirmed in 1996 through the deadline in 1997 as well as identification of the winners of the above shows.” ‘Saluki Seen’, Volume 1 may be purchased for $55.00 (include P & P). For more information please contact Mrs Linda Scanlon, 7 Hilltop Drive, Wilbraham Ma 01095-1742 USA.
Manchester, the first championship show of 1997 was the crowning of a new Saluki Champion dog. Congratulations are due to Ms Jo Webb and Cottonore Dameris for winning his third CC. He was born on 30th May 1992 and bred by Miss A McIntosh. His sire was Ch Classicus Galerius of Zenarius and his dam Cottonore Chiquita. RCC dog was Mrs A Macdonald’s Mabrooka Khamriy. BOB, BCC was Mr A Macdonald’s Ch Mabrooka Matara. RBCC was Dr & Mrs JA Hudon’s Glenoak Farhaan. Sorry as I do not have best puppy results.
Well Good luck to everyone at Crufts next week. I have been told its 9AM for judging to commence. And hopefully Michael will be writing his own notes next week
