SALUKI (GAZELLE HOUND) BREED NOTES

SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 23rd March 2001

All members of the SGHC, please remember that the AGM of the Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club, will be held at the Cambridshire Moat House Hotel at Bar Hill, near Cambridge on Sunday, 25th March 2001 at 2p.m. The Hotel has a bar where coffee, tea and other drinks may be obtained but if you would like lunch the nearest place is the Little Chef and the Burger King on the A14, which is located very close to the venue. Buzz Faber, will be running a raffle at the AGM with proceeds to be donated to Saluki Welfare Fund. Buzz would appreciate any donations by way of prizes etc towards the raffle. Don Everton will be bring copies of “The Saluki” for those of you that have not paid for this year which is probably most of us as Crufts is where we usually pay.

We have received a communication from the local veterinary surgery about taking your pets abroad and the additional risks. They state that: “While out of the UK your pet may well be exposed to other potentially life threatening diseases, some of which are transmitted by flies or ticks. Your pet does no need to come into contact with infected animals. Already several animals infected with such diseases have returned to the UK, including a case of babesiosis in a dog treated at this practice after a holiday in France

Unfortunately, since these diseases are not usally found in the UK treatment are not readily available and therefore this really is a case where prevention is better than cure.” It is therefore suggested you contact PETS helpline on 0870 2411710 for further information.
