SALUKI BREED NOTES WEEK ENDING 22nd September 2000.
Michael McCormick Smith on behalf of The Saluki Welfare Fund has forwarded The following report from Welfare Wardens: “The total re-homed by the Fund this year is 18. There are two Salukis in our care that are awaiting new homes. There have been three cases reported of Salukis in Animal Shelters which all turned out to be crosses. (Since the meeting the Wardens have added that 6 further Salukis have been informally re-homed and completion of the paperwork is pending). We desperately need help in transporting rescues up and down the country, and perhaps the Committee could give some thought to this. Recently a dog needlessly stayed in kennels two extra months because nobody was prepared to help out with the transportation. It is always the same people who help out.”
“The Committee agreed that Helen and David Graham would try to co-ordinate transport north of Birmingham and Michael McCormick Smith would try to do the same south of Birmingham, especially as new Wardens will soon be appointed. We would be very grateful if you would publicize this through the Breed Notes and ask for more volunteers to transport dogs from time to time. The Fund is willing to pay fuel costs, although in fact very few people ask for reimbursement.”
Mrs Jenny Ziman was judging last Friday at Richmond Championship Dog Show. The weather was on, off drizzle/rain but we were fortunate enough to have a covered ring so as long as we stayed close to the edge of the ring, we stayed dry. Jenny choose for her BOB, BCC was Mrs J Prior’s Nefisa Razuna Bint Ubu, making this her second CC. RBCC was Mrs E.A. Metcalfe’s Altaya Tallulah at Tasia. DCC, for his first CC was Mrs S.M. Harmer’s Ukhaydir Aris Hatid Ariba (IMP). He was born on 2nd May 1998 and his breeders are P & W Seitlinger of Germany. His sire is Multi Ch Khayif Esnan-Kalib and dam Multi Ch Jazirat Ibna Bahiyya. The RDCC was awarded to Mr C.M. & H.V. Williams and Mrs R. Redfern’s Ch El Hamrah Mehrab-Khalifa (IMP). The Best Puppy was Mrs E. A. MacDonald’s Mabrooka Janina. Well done all.
I have noticed that some of the imported dogs parentage are related in “International Champion” and others “Multi Champion” Can Multi Champions be International Champions and vice versa. Please, an explanation from an informed source would be helpful.
