SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 21 May 1999
Consistency seems to be the flavour of the day with The Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club. At their Limited Show, which was held in February, the final decision for Best in Show Rested with the referee. In the Saluki Club Yearbook I observe this same person is again the Referee at the Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club Championship Show in October. The SGHC has three shows a year and the Northern Saluki Club has two. As we have only two clubs, we therefore have very few club shows. To have the same person with the responsibility for making the final decisions at 2/3 of 1999 shows is not reasonable. There must be someone else, with the qualifications, that would be acceptable to the Committee, without giving one person so much control over ultimate outcome of our Club show. Any comments?
In this months'Women's Journal, Homes and Gardens and Good Housekeeping there is advert for The Advance Range of Dog Food. In it there are excellent photographs of Paulene and Harry Kendall's Ch Gulzar Al-Mutakabbir. Harry told us that they were invited to a photo shoot last year with Pedigree Chum. At that time they took a whole series of photos and later they presented Harry and Paulene with a large photo of Brandie running free, to keep as momento. Harry said the entire day was most enjoyable.
We have had to say good-by to our dear friend Ch Kasaque Dharmas at 14 years. She was born on 7th December, 1984 and we were her breeders. Her sire was Ch Hekla Royal Brigadier of Fargaze and her dam, Kasaque Corona. Dharmas' first CC with BOB was at Border Union 1988, judge Mrs B. Payne, Her second CC, also with BOB was Blackpool, judge Mrs P Kendall and her third CC, again with BOB was at Richmond, judge Mrs D Stansfied. She won BIS at the SGHC Limited Show, and RBIS at the SGHC Championship Show. She also won the Sandpiper Trophy for Top Show/Coursing hound. Dharmas was the dam of four UK Champions and one German Champion.Michael Williams (101547.503@compuserve.com)
