SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 18th September, 1998
The following information has been sent to me by Mrs Kay Perkins, the PRO for The Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club. "The time has come for you to send in your nominations of judges for the Limited Show and Open Show for the year 2000 and nominations for the Championship Show for the year 2001. Nominations should be sent in writing to the Hon.Secretary, Mrs Diana Allan, Dean Croft, Brook Lane, Upper Dean, Huntingdon, Cambs PE18 0NG. All correspondence must be with Mrs Allan by 31st October, 1998. Fax nominations will not be accepted." Also the following information has been forwarded to me, for those wishing to be included on The Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club Judging List.:
CRITERIA TO BE MET BY APPLICANT
A.3 LIST ( BREED SPECIALIST)
1 dog in the stud book either bred, owned, co-owned or to have lived with the judge.
To have judged salukis for a least 7 years.
To have judged not less than 50 classes and a minimum of 150 Salukis (absentees excluded from this figure).
Should have judged a Saluki Breed Club show.
Should have attended a breed teaching seminar and an assessment seminar for Salukis at which they achieved the required standard.
Meet other criteria as prescribed by the Kennel Club.
B LIST (BREED SPECIALIST)
To have owned, co-owned or lived with and exhibited Salukis for 6 years before starting to judge the breed.
To have judged salukis for a least 5 years.
To have attended 1 saluki breed teaching seminar.
To have judged not less than 20 classes and a minimum of 60 salukis at Limited and Open show level (absentees excluded from this figure)
ALL ROUNDERS
To have judged not less than 20 classes and a minimum of 60 salukis (absentees excluded from this figure)
To have attended 1 breed teaching seminar
C LIST (FOR THE ASPIRING BREED SPECIALIST)
Must have been in the breed and/or lived with a saluki for 6 years.
To have attended 1 saluki breed teaching seminar
FOR THE ASPIRING ALL ROUNDERS
To have stewarded saluki classes at shows, including a Saluki Club Show.
To have attended 1 saluki breed teaching seminar.
JUDGES FROM ABROAD
Judges from abroad will be considered for inclusion on the list. They too must provide details of their experience in judging Salukis and evidence that they hold a licence to judge Salukis in their own country. The committee will then consider adding their name to the list appropriate to their experience.BIRMINGHAM CH SHOW RESULTS
City of Birmingham held their 50th Championship Show last Friday. Our judge wasMr Ian Veal. His BOB, DCC was Mrs P Kendall's Ch Gulzar Al-Mutakabbir. The RDCC was won by Williams, Redfern and Williams' El Hamrah Mehrab-Khalifa (imp) BCC was Mr N and Mrs E Stanmore's Ch Altaya Jaida-Maria with the RBCC to Miss CLucas' Tealby Serafina. Best puppy was Mr M & Mrs s Spooner's Manzemar Meher.The special events at Birmingham continued with the winner of the bitch Reserve Challenge Certificate, Miss Lucas, dashing to and from the Junior Handling ring. For her hard work she managed to win the KCJO stakes and was third in Junior Handling. This is quite an accomplishment and extremely well deserved. City of Birmingham also tested for the Good Citizen Award.. Mr & Mrs Tolley's Clearwing Baladine and Caryna Chrysaor both qualified for their Bronze Award while Bedu Atlanta of Fargaze, owned by Mr & Mrs N. Ziman also qualified for his Bronze Good Citizen Award. To top off this, Mr M and Mrs C McCormick Smith's brace of Salukis won top hound brace and had to return on Sunday to compete for best brace in show, which still alludes him.
