SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 17TH DECEMBER 1999

There seems to be little news around. I did receive a card from the SGHC regarding the address of the treasurer, Ms Liz Gibbons. The card states that the address given in the Newsletter is incorrect and to please use the address of Maple Rise, Palace Close, Kings Somborne, Hants. S020 6PS. Also I have been informed that the Newletters are on the way. There will be a health questionaire included in the pack. This is part of the new program established in conjunction with The Kennel Club, The Animal Health Trust, The Northern Saluki Club, The Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club and the Saluki Welfare so hopefully everyone will fill it in.

Gary Peskett has sent me a copy of the BSFA Newsletter. The Top Lure Chasing Saluki for 1999 was Michael McCormick-Smith's Glenoak Huchithra and close behind was Ann Sherwin-Clough's Ermcote Kharrub. The Calendar of Events for the year 2000 is as follows: 13th February, AGM at The Swan, Three Mile Cross, Nr Reading Berks; 5th March, Tadley nr Reading; 24th April (Monday) Makeney, Nr Belper, Derby; 13th May (2:00 p.m.) Teachin for new judges; 14th May Blindley Heath, Surrey; 4th June, Brinsbury College, East Sussex; 9th July, Falkland Farm, Newbury; 6th August, Radway, Nr Banbury; 10th September, Makeney, Nr Belper, Derby; 15th October, Falkland Farm, Newbury, Berks. The schedules for Crufts are now available and the entries fees are £19.00 per dog but subsequent entries with the same dog are free. Catalogues are £3.50, the car park costs £5.00 or £7.00 with the drop-off facility. Our judge for this year is Mrs Rosemary Lewis (Knightellington). I understand that there is a large contingency from North America coming over for the Millennium show. Crufts is unlike any other show in the world and will always draw a universal following.
