As mentioned last week Ken Allan has kindly sent to me the results of his judging the SaJohn Hudson, PRO for the SGHC sends the following: “The SGHC Championship Show is, as everyone already knows, at the Sports Connexion, in Coventry, on Saturday October 18th. Dogs will be judged first and then bitches. This is a departure from our usual pattern of judging and will require super-efficiency to get everything done in reasonable time. This is being provided by our super-efficient Show Manager and, at the current stage of planning, there will be no break in the judging at lunch-time. There will be a Collecting Ring so that each Class will be ready to enter the ring as soon as the previous Class is finished. So listen out for your Class to be called by the Collecting Ring Steward.
Don't forget to bring, if you can, prizes for the Raffle and for the Welfare Tombola and anything else for the Welfare Stall. Also bring money to get your prizes back again and to buy Sheila Harmer's photos of the winners at previous Shows. You will want to buy the Saluki Magazine - the latest issue will be on sale, and available to those who have already paid. The usual canteen and bar will be open.
Heart testing will take place in the morning only. It will be listening by stethoscope and will take about five minutes per dog. This time we shall have an appointments system with people signing their dogs up for a time of their choice. Dr Brownlie is hoping to get a broad picture of Saluki hearts and so she would like to see as many different dogs as possible. If there any dogs from last time that she particularly wishes to see again, she will get in touch with the owners directly.”
Last Sunday was The Northern Saluki Club Open Show, the judge was Ms Gina Cochran. BIS was Mr & Mrs Rogers’ Labakan Ikteer Takha. He was bred by his exhibitors and was born on 1st May 1995. He is by Labadan Zaringar ex Kebijeva Dominique. Best Bitch was Dr & Mrs Hudson’s Glenoak Farhaan. She was bred by her exhibitors and was born on 2nd June, 1993. She is out of Glenoak Bharandi ex Glenoak Calliope. Best puppy was Mr & Mrs Allan’s Jazirat Shazaara. Junior Handling was won by Paul Carter.
Phil Beeley is still in the hopital but is much improved and is expected home any day. The Belly-Dancing demonstration that was to be held at the NSC Open Show had to be called off but has been rescheduled for The NSC Championship Show in April. I have been told that Kevin Carter, BobThompson and Barry Cotterill (hope I haven’t forgotten anyone) will be doing the “One-Third Monty”. Donation will be accepted on behalf of Saluki Welfare. I think the NSC Championship Show (whichever show you are going to see) will be a day not to be missed.
