The rains held off at Southern Counties Championship Show last Saturday. Our judge was Mrs Z Thorn-Andrews. Her BOB, DCC was Mrs P. Kendall's Ch Gulzar Al-Mutakabbir. RDCC went to Ms S.A. Steer's Daxlore Mirage at Fernlark. The BCC, for her third and qualifying CC was Mrs Z. Rawson's Mumtaz Star Maker. She was born on 18th February, 1996 and her breeder is her owner. Her sire is Peblu Priam of Fargaze and dam, Mumtaz Moon Star. RBCC was Mrs R Dann's Jazirat Sima. Best Puppy was Miss S Finnet and Mrs D Copperthwaite's Al Caliphs Saraab TAF. Well done all.
I have received information from Ian Stedman-Brown, PRO of SGHC. He Has asked me to pass on to you that if any members subscribe to Pedigree Dog Breeders Magazine than the SGHC will receive a £4.00 donation.
At the next AGM, the committee will be having a general discussion on the Merits and possible introduction of Junior membership (under 16 and no voting powers) and a full Family Membership package.
He went on to state: "It was agreed that the invitation to judges to stand for the ballot for club shows should state that, in letting his or her name go forward, a judge agrees to accept appointment as referee if asked. It should also state that appointment as referee does not carry any restriction on judging the breed prior to the show (or after the show) ".
The auction of The book donated by Marie Bryce-Smith will take place in the PM at the Championship Show. (I had previously stated the Open Show). Bids can be made prior, to the SGHC Secretary, Dr John Hudson, right up until midday on the day in effect. The highest of these bids will serve as a reserve price or the winning bid. This copy of Hope and David Waters "The Saluki in History, Art and Sport" is an original first edition, signed by the authors, not the second edition which is currently available on the internet.
SGHC is planning a judging seminar to be held in November, 2000. As soon as Further details are available , I will pass them on.
In the June edition of Kennel Gazette there is an article on Clarissa Dickson Wright. In one of the photos there is a picture of Claissa's grandmother, Elsie Manasseh with her Saluki and terriers in SingaporeMichael Williams (101547.503@compuserve.com)
