Saluki Breed Notes15/11/96
The following information was provided by Peter Yardley :- " The sudden death committee would like to thank those who had their Salukis checked by Dr Serena Brownlie at our recent Championship Show. Dr Brownlie started at 10.30 and did not finish until 6.30 and we would like to thank her for her hard work. In the morning she listened to 42 hounds and in the afternoon she carried out ECG and Ultrasound tests on 28 hounds. She now has to put the information she gathered into her computer and analyze the data. She will then write a report or us but stressed that this will take her some time, eventually she hopes to be able to publish her findings in the veterinary press. The whole purpose of this exercise was to produce data from a broad spectrum of Salukis in order to establish the normal range of criteria for saluki hears. We were pleased that you responded to well and have to apologise to those who wished to participate but were unable to do so because of the lack of time. I am sure if we had had two Dr Brownlie's in attendance both would have worked for the full day. Once again thank you for your patience and cooperation."
At the Saluki Club Championship Show, Margaret Worrell lost the top of her cage. It was silver on the outside and furry inside. If anyone found it, please telephone Margaret on 01905 333667.

Tragically, Ch. Jazirat Iskandraya or Shannon as he was known died this week. Shannon was owned by Paul and Joanna Mahon, was six years old and until very recently was fit and healthy, attending shows and enjoying life. His Veterinarian has diagnosed parvo virus as the cause of his death, although the actual strain of the disease has not yet been confirmed. This must be devastating for the Mahon's and our thoughts are with them.
