SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 12TH MAY 2000
The new PRO for the Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club is Ian Stedman-Brown. In that Capacity he has E-Mailed me some information on The Joint Saluki Clubs Millenium Party which, in case you had forgotten, is on 13th May . It is being held at the Barwell Village Hall, near Oundle, Northamptonshire. Originally there was going to be a bring and share lunch but this has now changed and there now will be food prepared by Ian Veal and Brendan Austin which will be available for purchase. Also there is free entry for all dogs in eleven, scheduled, semi-serious fun classes. Ian also wants to know if anyone wishes to offer specials at the Millenial Open Show on June 11th?
If so or if you have any interest, please talk to Kay Perkins, on 01795 470918. Ian stated that Marie Bryce Smith has donated a signed copy of Hope and John Waters book "The Saluki in History, Art and Sport" to be auctioned at the Open show. Proceeds are to go to the Saluki health fund. For those persons who will be unable to attend but want to bid, postal bids can be sent to the Secretary John Hudson at 28 Cootes Lane, Fen Drayton, Cambs. CB4 5SL. As a guide to bidders, an unsigned copy of this book, would cost around £90.
Nicola Quadling has asked me to remind everyone about the Saluki Calendar Competition . Please send your entries together with the appropriate fees to Nicola not later than 2nd June. Nicola is going to be away so will be unable to remind everyone personally but if you would like a chance to have a photograph of your Saluki in the 2001 Calendar, then please send your photos in. Also they are looking for someone to organise the calendar for 2002 (which needs to happen during 2001) as Nicola will be taking over the job of Show Manager when Kay Perkins retires from that job at the end of the year.
