SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 8th September 2000
Despite last weekend being a Bank Holiday weekend, some souls were brave enough to journey north , in spite of all the traffic, to The Scottish Kennel Club’s Championship Show. Our judge was Mrs Dagmar Kenis-Pordham. She choice for her BOB, BCC, Mrs D Garratt’s Ch Caryna Hera with the RBCC to Mr A Rawson’s Mumtaz Desdemona. DCC was awarded to Mr C.M. Williams, Mrs H.V. Williams and Mrs R. Redfern’s Ch El Hamrah Mehrab-Khalifa(imp) with the RDCC to to Mrs P Kendall’s Ch Gulzar Al-Mutakabbair. Denise Garratt had a good day with her puppy, Abberann Tiko-Tino at Caryna (imp) winning Best Puppy.
Also entered at this show were two smooth Salukis from France. I believe they are our first Salukis to be entered at a show under the new PETS scheme. I spoke to Madame Du Rot Hazard who advised that their entry into the country from France had been trouble-free. She said the French Authorities checked her paperwork before she left France and the rest was plain sailing. Unfortunately she was not able to attend the show but having learned the ropes there will be future shows they will certainly attend.
We recently received from the SGHC a newsletter, the schedule for the upcoming Championship Show and a post card to be posted to Shirley Cowan at the Kennel Club. This post card is regarding the loss of our Challenge Certificates at Windsor Championship Show. Please remember to post it and even maybe write a letter letting the KC know, that the removal of CC’s, at Windsor, will not be a good idea. We accept that our entries are reducing and therefore a set of tickets should be withdrawn, but not from one of our most popular shows where we always have a good entry. This show is one of the most popular of the entire show calendar. It is in the height of the summer, centrally located with the incomparable surroundings of Windsor, Eton and the Castle. This show attracts many foreign visitors and not having Saluki classes would be a loss for all Salukphiles world wide. If you want more information on this issue or a schedule to the championship show, please contact the secretary, Dr John Hudson, on tel 01954 203084.Michael Williams (kasaque@gateway.net)
