In the breed notes of two weeks ago I asked the following question : “I have noticed that some of the imported dogs parentage are related in “International Champion” and others “Multi Champion” Can Multi Champions be International Champions and vice versa. Please, an explanation from an informed source would be helpful. Mrs Val Seitlinger has kindly responded with an explanation: “This is easily answered. You are probably aware that in addition to the International Champion title, all FCI countries have their national Ch. titles to be gained under certain regulations (watch for an article which I am writing for The Saluki on the subject). Meaning, that if the dog is good and his owners are willing to travel, there is no limit to the number of Ch. titles to be gained. For instance, my Kashmir held 7 Champion titles. Ibna for instance has 5 Champion titles. The same applies to the Sire of her litter, World Champion '96 Khayif Esnan Kalib. From personal experience, it becomes increasingly difficult to list more than 3 Champion titles on entry forms, and that's when most people resort to using the word Multi-Champion. Hope I was able to shed some light on a mystery. “ I assume from this explanation that you may have many national titles and never be an International Champion and conversely you may be an International Champion and hold no national titles. I shall look forward to reading about the FCI titles in the next edition of ‘The Saluki’. Michael Williams
