We have received a letter from Val Seitlinger in Germany regarding the topic of booster injections for distemper, hepatitus, leptospirosis and parovirus. Val says: "On the subject of booster shots, all my books on veterinary homeopathy stongly recommend the regular injections rather than homeopathic treatment." She goes on to say " I have never had bad experiences with boosters, neither have any of my friends and my vet says he has not had problems in his practice either. I know Jean Dodds Seminar caused some confusion ;in the matter and while I believe some illnesses can be triggered off by injections, I think it would be far worse to put my dogs at risk of contract

ing some horrible disease like parovovirus or distemper."

We consulted with our vets this week when taking our young dogs in for their annual boosters. It seems that the practice has discussed the theory that some auto-ammune problems may be related to the injections but feel the value of the shots out weight the chances of a problem. Which brings me to some information that Rosemary Refern has asked us to pass on. Last week Rosemary took her two year old Saluki bitch to be boosted and was informed that her vet had changed his brand of injections. Last year he used "Citadel 12 plus Lepto." and with Rosemary's dogs there were no problems. This year, he had changed drugs and he was using Kavak DA2PiP69. Rosemary's bitch had a bad reaction. The vet had warned Rosemary that a West Highland White Terrier had had a bad reaction to its booster so when Rosemary's bitch started behaving adversely, Rosemary immediately contacted the veterinary surgery, as she recognised the symptoms were a reaction to the injection. Fortunately her bitch recovered within a few hours.
