SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 4TH FEBRUARY 2000

Michael McCormick Smith, Hon. Sec for The Saluki Welfare Fund has asked me to include the following:

"The AGM of the Saluki Welfare Trust will be held this year on 5th. March at the Grand St. Leger Hotel, Doncaster, immediately following the AGM of the Northern Saluki Club. This way we hope to have a quorum - next year it will be at the end of the SGI-IC AGM. The audited accounts for 1998 and 1999 will be presented to the AGM. The 1999 accounts show that expenditure exceeded income by about £1500, due almost entirely to increased spending on vet fees. The latest Welfare Officer's report says that more and more rescue salukis need treatment for broken legs. 30 salukis were rehomed through the Fund last year, and there are still some waiting for homes.

The Fund's Officers retire at the AGM but all are willing to stand for re--election. Two Committee members retire by rotation. Ann Jones is not standing for re-election as she has to reduce her commitments in this her final year at University, so at least one new member is needed. Nominations should be sent to me a fortnight at least before the meeting.

There are still tickets availabe for the Jean Dodds health seminar. As this is open to all breeds, and tickets are sold on a "first come,first served" basis, saluki people are advised to apply by mid-February at the latest to avoid disappointment."
