SALUKI NOTES WEEK ENDING 1ST MAY, 1998

The Northern Saluki Club held their Championship Show last Sunday. Everyone was greeted with a cup of coffee/tea and biscuits which was gratefully received. It was nice to see Philip Beeley at the show looking quite well after his hospitalisation. Adele Walton-Haddon is carrying on the family tradition and hence was selling the raffle tickets with great efficiency.

The judge, was Mrs M Fulcher, adjudicating at a championship show for the first time with a bumper entry of 174 ( this number includes ‘not for competition’) The BOB,DCC for his second CC was Mr & Mrs Rogers’ Labakan Ikteer Takha. The RDCC was Mr Sanghera, Ms Walker and Mr & Mrs Hamilton’s Miskanda’s Tiger Bay at Kamsun. BCC, her first, was Ms Jones and Mr Carter’s Clearwing Beraq. She was born on 10th September, 1996 and bred by her exhibitors. Her sire is Int. Ch Sedeki Mazuri Azefer Bazu and her dam Pennyworth Katisha. RBCC was Mrs Garratt’s Caryna Hera. Best puppy was Mr & Mrs Macro’s Nefisa Samr.

At the last Annual General Meeting of The Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club, “item 14” on the agenda proposed “To consider/discuss the following from the Committee of the SGHC:The Committee would like to assess the feeling of the AGM regarding the use of video cameras at Club shows. I was informed that the members attending the AGM decided they did not want the use of video cameras at club shows. At the Northern Saluki Show, a vodeo of the dogs was being made. I wonder if anyone has any comments to make regarding this? Do you think the videos will play an active part in archiving the Salukis of 1998 or do you think the taking of these video is an infringement and may be used against you later. All comment greatfully received.
