Q A Shaw McKean was very important in development of the Afghan Hound in the USA. Two early UK exports, Westmill Omar (dog) and Asra of Ghazni (bitch) joined the Prides Hill Kennel in 1931/32. Later in 1933/4 Q A Mckean imported Badshah Of Ainsdart. These three Afghans are the foundation of the US breed. A study of the pedigrees and breeding program of the Prides Hill kennels shows a fascinating interplay between these three Afghans and subsequent generations, Badshah being more pivotal than Asra and Omar.
