Carloway Afghan Hounds, founded in 1946 with the bitch Kosthii Of Westover - probably the most influential UK Afghan kennel in modern times (if we can count up to the mid 60's as modern in this context). Thirty years after Mrs Gilleney dispersed her kennel and migrated to Malta, the legacy remains. Jalalabad Barwala Of Carloway, born 50 years ago in 1946 dominates UK bloodlines around the 8 - 10th generations, with very many of his descendents showing up earlier. The end of the line is close, but is also going out in style - two UK Champions made up in 1995, Ch Moonswift Mhirtata of Altside and Ch Moonswift Medici whose breeding is almost entirely Carloway via the Moonswift lines. We will document the Carloway time as we develop this web site, for now we'll post this very short acknowledgement of this truly great UK kennel.
