FRANCE - SHOWING/JUDGING SYSTEMS

OVERVIEW

Precise details of the French system are not to hand. The following extract is taken from the UK Afghan Hound Year Book 1990, Author Bev Ward, and established English breeder now resident in France. If you can add to the following or have comments this would be gratefully received

"There is a lack of dogs in general, Afghans in particular. There are a greater number of breeds represented, with 10 groups. The Afghan appears in the 10th group 'Levriers et races apparents' (Sighthounds). The classification in the schedule is the same for all breeds, all breeds scheduled unless otherwise stated - Debutante 9 to 12 months. Jeune 12 to 18 months. Open over 15 months. Travail working champion"

"Shows are at 2 levels, national and international. All national level shows give C.A.C.'s and international shows give the and the C.A.C.I.B's . Entries are higher at the international shows. Only the winners of Open and Travail challenge for the C.A.C and the Champion winner may challenge for the C.A.C.I.B and B.O.B. In the Afghan Show Calender the 2 most important are the Championnat de France and the FALAPA (Club Francais des Amateurs de Leveriers d'Asie Persans et Afghans. It is only by winning the C.A.C. at one of these two shows that your Afghan is entitled to its French championship. Of course, they must also win 3 further C.A.C's"
