The main organisation is CBKC, which means Confederation of Brazilian Kennel Clubs. Actually, now the name is Confederacao Brasileira de Cinofilia. The name CBKC has existed since about 1973 and was kept after the split between two political factions occured in 1991. BKC, the first Brazilian organisation was established in 1922. Only CBKC and its Federations and clubs are affiliated to FCI and use the same division of Groups for dog shows. Brazilian dog shows are divided into 10 Groups and the Kennel Club of Sao Paol advise that there were 78 breeds shown last year.
- The division in classes is as follows:.
- Filhote (Puppy): from 3 to 6 months old..
- Novissimo (like "youngster", the right meaning is "brand new"): from 6 months and 1 day to 12 months..
Those 2 classes above are able to earn "CJC", described below as well as other "CACs" (certificates)..- Junior: from 1 year and one day to 2 years, able to earn "CAC". ("CACPAB" and "CACIB" just after 15 months old)..
- Senior: after 2 years and 1 day..
- Campeonato (Championship): the name tells by itself...
- Grande Campeonato (Grand Championship)..
- Veterans:In some rare dog shows there is also a special class for Veteransminimal age varies from 7 to 8 years old, and beyond.
- Grande Vencedor NacionalThat means Grand National Winner. To be a Gr. Venc. Nac. it is necessary to win 3 All Breed BIS in 3 different States, under different judges (the same apply for both males and females). /li>
From those classes are pointed out the Best of Breed and his Runner-up (which can be same or opposite sex), to compete for Best of Group, and Best in Show. Both have places from 1st to 4th (sometimes to 5th). As one BOB wins a place in the Group his Breed Runner-up comes to compete for a place. The same for BIS: his Group Runner-up also enters the ring for the final competition.
- The titles and the rules for achieving them are:
- Young Championship: 3 "CJC" (certificate for young championship)..
- Championship: 4 "CAC" and 1 runner-up breed for females, 5 "CAC" and 1 runner-up for males, all from different judges..
- Grand Championship: 40 points, got through "CGC" from 1 to 5 points each, and 2 best of breed for females; 60 points and 3 best of breed for males, all from different judges..
