2. AFGHANS IN BELGIUM

In Belgium we have no Afghan club, only a club for all sighthounds. Our club has a system to become afghan of the year. For the year 1997 the best afghan male was Internationale, Belgium ,Netherlands, German Champion Bocaccio El Aryana Shalym , owner Mr. Vanderheyden-Dehaes. Best afghan bitch was his sister International, Netherlands, Swedish, Luxemburg, German and VDH champion Bellina El Aryana Shalym , P. Bareman.

For the year 1998, the best dog is the very well know Multi Ch. Cartier Simply Irrestible , owner Mr. J-P Godin , The best bitch is the Swedish import "Ch. Alphaville's Sinful Sadie", owner Mrs Van Steelant - Benoit

I will try to tell you something more about the other breeders in Belgium.

El Jafistan Kennel , Mr. Jacob, who is a breeder of VDOM afghans, finished different titles with his afghans this year.

Kennel "d'Abd El Shiraz " , Mrs Boclinville-Marville, her last litter out of "Ch. Chandigarh's Earth Wind and Fire" and "Quinta d' abd El Shiraz" started the showring. The black and Tan bitch " Virginia d'Abd El Shiraz " became Luxemburg Junior Champion ans 2 BIS Junior.

Kennel "Sayadena " , Mrs Van Steelant-Benoit. The youngster out of Ch. "Gold and Pepper du Shikhara" and "Sayadena Quimera" were showed ocassionally. " Sayadena Velvetblue" , a nice domino bitch, was 2 best young bitch at the special sighthound show. Her young brother "Sayadena Ventura" was best young male at the same show .

Two very important shows in Belgium are "Brussels Dog show", a cardshipshow (CACIB) in May and the special sighthoundshow (CAC) in september every year. Junior Winner 98 dog was "Vaughan Du Jegdalek" owner Koekoekx-Dehaes. Belgian Junior winner 98 bitch was his sister "Vindhya Du Jegdalek". Both out of Multi Ch. "Wind against Ace of Base" and Multi Ch. " Pahlavia Du Jegdalek". Belgian Winner 98 dog and Best of Breed was "Yaboon von Katwiga" owner , Mrs Schwerm-Hahne-Lorh. Belgian Winner 98 bitch was "Serra Parecis Darkness before Dawn " owner Mrs De Meyer-Rammeloo.

At the special sighthound show the winning dog , for the second year, and 2 BIS was Intern., German, Netherland Belgium Ch. "Bocaccio El Aryana Shalym" Res. CAC was Multi Ch. Cartier Simply Irrestible at 9 years old . Winning bitch was "Serra Parecis Dream away the day" owner Mrs De Meyer – Rammeloo.Sister of winning bitch from Brussels. Res. CAC was the 18 month old bitch " Vindhya Du Jegdalek.

The sighthound club is working at a special programm to celebrate there 100 the anniversary together with the congress for the year 2002.
