THAILAND SHOW SCENE PAGES 1996

The following details kindly provided by Dennis Smith, (samit@ksc9.th.com)

We dont have much information about Afghans or the show scene in Thailand, but we are fortunate that we have a correspondent (Dennis Smith) out there and his Afghan Calahorra Social Contact (known as Massoud)

Introduction to Thai Show Scene

National sactioning body - The Dog Association of Thailand
Breed Clubs in country - The Working Dog Club of Thailand
The Hound Dog Club of Thailand
The Toy Dog Club of Thailand
(There may be additional clubs, i.e. gun dog, but I am unable to confirm)
NOTE: The Working Dogs are by far the largest group being shown.
Rottweilers, Dobermans, Boxers and Dalmatians lead this group in numbers.
The next largest group are the Toys. All the Chinese Breeds are well
represented, as is a newly recognized (FCIA) breed, the Thai Ridgeback.

Judges - None locally sanctioned. All are brought in from countries with
established organizations. Primarily for financial reasons, judges for Thai
Shows will come predominately from Australia and New Zealand.

Standard - Thailand has no standard of it's own. Policy is to utilize the
standard of the country of the judge. I imagine that at some point in the
future, Thailand will simply adopt the Australian Standard as the Thai Standard.

A couple additional pieces of information concerning last Sunday's Show

Not only did Dennis perform very well by all accounts ,so did his young Afghan, heres what happened -
