September 7th 1950
(92 Entries)
Judge: Mr J H Parker
The judge on the day, Mr J Hilton Parker, came from Devon his kennel name being 'THREESTREAMS'. The two most well known Afghans bred by him were Mrs Wyn Leest's CH. KUMARI OF THREESTREAMS who won her first Reserve CC while still in puppy, and a masked red bitch which was heavily coated, close coupled, superbly angulated, but short tempered. This bitch joined the Horningsea kennel after she had gained her title, in about 1950, when Mr Parker's kennel was disbanded, - CH MARIKA OF THREESTREAMS. Marika became a foundation bitch of the Horningsea Kennels, producing litters until she was 10 years old. The most noteworthy of her progeny being CH. HORNINGSEA MAJID. The show was to draw an entry of 92.

Jalalabad was unshown due to a spinal injury as a puppy but certainly proved himself as a stud. Among his many offspring was the first Carloway Champion Sharmain of Virendale. This two and a half year old dog had already won two Reserve CCs and at his next show, Bournemouth (September 1950), won his first CC. He was relatively uncommon in those days as he was described as being 'heavily coated right down his legs!' (No bare pasterns). Only a few months later having by then picked up two CCs Dil Khan died from distemper. His dam was a litter sister to CH RAVELLY PATROLS ALI BEY; WINSTYLE DERA KHAN. It was believed that Dera Khan carried the recessive genes accounting for incorrect mouths, undershot or wry, which has reappeared from time to time through the generations to the present day.

She had retained Badakshnan who was a fine upstanding, heavily coated all-black dog with an excellent temperament, for stud from this mating. He sired several typical litters, his best being to the Khorrassan lines, two of his progeny at this show were the winner of Post Graduate Dog; PERIDOT OF KHORRASSAN and second in Novice Bitch; TZAHARINE ONYX OF KHORRASSAN.
